SproutVideo alternatives

Leaving SproutVideo because the bandwidth bill grew, the video now has to prove sales, or you need real DRM? These hosts fix each of those.

By Mara Vance, reviewed by the VSL Host Report desk. Updated October 2026.

People look past SproutVideo for one of three reasons. The bandwidth bill grew: one Capterra reviewer said they did not want to pay $40 more just for bandwidth. The video now sells to paid traffic, and SproutVideo cannot say which plays became orders. Or the price itself grates, as it did for a G2 reviewer who noted that cheaper hosts exist for the same job.

My take

I'd judge a SproutVideo replacement by which of those three you hit, and I would not move a private training library just to fix a sales video. Staff and client video can stay behind SproutVideo's logins while the VSL moves to a conversion player. If the bill is the problem, try a bigger plan's allowance or the usage cap first, bearing in mind that the bandwidth FAQ says the cap can slip during very fast streaming.

Quick answer

If your video sells to cold traffic and you buy ads on the sale, move it to a conversion player at the top of this ranking. If bandwidth overage is the problem, Voomly's Plus plan includes unlimited bandwidth, and if lessons need DRM, VdoCipher puts it on all its plans.

Ranked

SproutVideo alternatives, ranked

TrackPlay home page: the headline 'The VSL player that counts sales' over a dark indigo hero.

1. TrackPlay: best for VSLs scored on the sale

TrackPlay is the pick if you run paid traffic to a VSL and need every play tied to the actual sale.

SproutVideo locks a video to the right viewers and captures the lead. TrackPlay is a VSL player and analytics platform for paid-traffic funnels: sound-first autoplay with timed CTAs and watch gates, retention split by buyers and non-buyers, split tests decided on real sales, and the cart-verified sale posted back to Meta, TikTok and GA4 on the play that earned it. It is narrow by design and is not a general host or content library, so staff training and client portals would stay on SproutVideo or another host. It is also very new, with little outside review history and invite-only signup, which is what you would expect of a platform at this stage.

Voomly home page showing its drag-and-drop video creation and hosting studio.

4. Voomly: best for cheap make-and-host

Voomly is the pick if you want to make videos and host them cheaply, with unlimited bandwidth, in one suite.

If bandwidth overage is why you are leaving, Voomly's Plus plan includes unlimited bandwidth, so a long VSL costs the same however much traffic it gets. Its analytics are lighter than a dedicated conversion player's.

Wistia home page for its business video hosting and marketing platform.

5. Wistia: best for B2B content

Wistia is the pick if your video's job is B2B content marketing and lead capture.

The usual other finalist. Wistia costs more to start and is built around content marketing, with attribution through its Signals add-on. You would give up some of SproutVideo's viewer controls, such as watermarks that name the viewer.

Bunny Stream home page, headlined 'A better way to deliver online video', the video delivery product from bunny.net.

8. Bunny Stream: best for developers

Bunny Stream is the pick if you have a developer and want cheap, fast, protected video delivery, and you are willing to build the VSL conversion layer yourself. It is not a sales-video player out of the box.

Cloudflare Stream product page describing a managed media pipeline for live and on-demand video.

9. Cloudflare Stream: best for Cloudflare users

Cloudflare Stream is the pick if you have a developer and want cheap, predictable, global video delivery on a network that will not buckle under load, and you are ready to build the VSL conversion layer yourself. It is not a sales-video player out of the box.

Mux homepage headed “Video for developers,” with navigation to its product, solutions, developer docs and pricing.

10. Mux: best for developer teams

Mux is the pick if you have a developer and want included quality-of-experience analytics, optional DRM and fast just-in-time publishing, and you will build autoplay, calls to action and attribution yourself.

Presto Player homepage headed “The Ultimate WordPress Video Player Plugin,” with links to features, integrations and pricing.

11. Presto Player: best for WordPress sites

Presto Player is a credible WordPress video layer for branded sales pages, timed calls to action and lead capture. Budget for a separate video host, and choose a dedicated VSL platform if sale attribution or experiments judged on sales matter most to you.

VdoCipher homepage headed “Secure Video Hosting,” listing DRM, watermark and piracy blocker, with a note of 30 days free and no credit card required.

12. VdoCipher: best for DRM-protected video

VdoCipher is the pick if you sell lessons or premium video behind a login where a leaked download would cost you real sales, and the video does not have to win over cold traffic by itself.

If leaked lessons are the worry, VdoCipher puts Widevine and FairPlay DRM on all its plans along with watermarking, where SproutVideo stops at AES-128 delivery and viewer watermarks. It has no sales-video tools.

Vidyard homepage headed “Video for every customer moment,” with a library of recorded sales videos, a rep's video bubble and Get a demo and Sign up for free buttons.

13. Vidyard: best for B2B sales outreach video

Vidyard is the pick if you run a B2B sales or customer success team that sends short personal videos to prospects and wants to see who watched, inside the tools your reps already use.

Gumlet homepage on a phone, headed “Your media stack, simplified,” describing an all-in-one platform to host, customize and secure videos, with Start for free and Get a demo buttons.

14. Gumlet: best for bundled bandwidth without code

Gumlet is the pick if you want a hosted player with in-video CTAs, ad pixels and optional DRM at a bundled bandwidth price, and you do not need the host to tie a play to the sale.

Spotlightr homepage headed “Secure, affordable video hosting for courses on WordPress, Kajabi, Thinkific and more”, with a trial sign-up form and badges for 4.8/5 on Capterra, 8,000+ membership sites and HLS encrypted, always.

15. Spotlightr: best for encrypted course video with funnel gates

Spotlightr is the pick if you sell a course or membership through funnels, want every video encrypted and gated in a branded player on plans that start at $13 a month, and do not need the host to tie a play to a sale.

How we picked these alternatives

We ranked each alternative on the same five things we judge every host on: player behaviour on paid traffic, depth of retention analytics, how it attributes the sale, pricing model, and what long-term users report. We read each vendor's own docs and pricing and verified prices before publishing. Full method: how we research.

How I'd decide

I'd judge any SproutVideo alternative on two numbers before I read its feature list: what one sales video costs a month for the traffic you run, and what the player gives back for that money. The VSL hosting cost calculator works out the first from your video length, visitors and watch rate, using each vendor's published rates. For the second, I would weigh what long-term users report, such as one user's report on G2 and another on Capterra, above any vendor's own claims.

Mara edits the reviews and roundups on VSL Host Report. She looks at how a video player behaves on cold paid traffic: autoplay and unmute behaviour, per-second retention, timed CTAs, lead gates and load speed. She also maps what each host really costs, whether it bills per play, per gigabyte or per seat, and rebuilds the monthly bill for a typical VSL funnel. For each piece she reads long-term user reports across forums and review sites, works through the vendor's own docs and pricing, and confirms the numbers before a verdict goes live.
