Where Bunny Stream pulls ahead
What works
- Cheap and fast. It bills on usage with a $1 monthly minimum: encoding and the player are free, storage is $0.01 per GB in the default region, standard delivery in Europe and North America is $0.01 per GB, and the volume network is $0.005 per GB. Reviewers and long-term users single out value and playback speed above everything else.
- A capable player and real content protection. You can restyle the player with your own CSS, add chapters, captions, adjustable speed and a watch-time retention graph, and lock videos down with Media Cage multi-DRM, token authentication, watermarking and hotlinking protection.
- Built for developers. It is API-first, with resumable TUS uploads, webhooks and clear code examples, so it drops cleanly into an existing stack and you own the whole delivery layer.
What to watch
- It has no VSL conversion layer. Sound-first autoplay that restarts on unmute, timed in-video CTAs, lead capture, split testing and sales attribution are all yours to build on top of Bunny's API.
- Reliability and support are recurring risks. Most users call it reliable. A minority report outages where assets fail to load, slow and unhelpful support, and accounts suspended by automated anti-fraud with no notice. The failure mode when it goes wrong is your video not loading.
- Non-technical buyers struggle with it. They hit poor documentation and a dashboard built for engineers, with no point-and-click, WordPress-native setup.
Gigabytes on one side, minutes on the other
You are down to Bunny Stream and Cloudflare Stream, and the sales page still needs a file that plays. Bunny charges by the gigabyte delivered. Cloudflare charges by the minute stored and the minute delivered. For a long pitch that viewers only partly finish, the gigabyte charge comes out lower.

Bunny vs Cloudflare video: two pipelines

Bunny Stream's product page brings transcoding, storage, security and a player together. You can restyle the player, and HLS is available if you bring your own. Cloudflare's product page describes an API that handles upload, encoding, packaging and live or on-demand playback. The longer write-ups are the Bunny Stream review and the Cloudflare Stream review.
Neither product page includes timed buttons, a split test, or a purchase tied to the view. Closing the sale from the embed takes another tool. Vidalytics is one player that includes those controls. Bunny Stream alternatives and Cloudflare Stream alternatives list the marketer hosts. Vidalytics vs Bunny Stream and Panda Video vs Bunny Stream compare Bunny with a finished sales player.
People who have shipped both describe the same split. On r/webhosting, a developer had Cloudflare Stream running in about ten minutes and called it a service built for developers. In that thread, a Bunny user liked the playback and said the API and the product still feel unfinished.
A 2026 thread on r/Streaming_Solutions says Bunny is very likely cheaper once you have real usage. The person who wrote that disclosed a job at bunny.net. The prices below come from the two pricing pages, not from that comment.
The cheapest video CDN follows the meter
Cloudflare's pricing page lists only two billing dimensions. Storage is prepaid at $5 for each 1,000 minutes of capacity. Delivery is $1 per 1,000 minutes, billed at the end of the month. Ingress and encoding are included, and bandwidth is not a separate line. Storage is rounded up to the nearest second of video length. A larger file of the same length uses the same number of minutes. A longer master uses more of those prepaid minutes. Preloading and buffering in the browser count as delivery, so an autoplay embed that buffers ahead can add minutes before anyone finishes the pitch.
Bunny's pricing page is the source for the rates in the list above: standard delivery in Europe and North America, the volume network up to 500 TB a month, and storage in the default Frankfurt region. Standard encoding is included. Once you enable a replication region, you cannot turn it off, and that region stays on the bill.
Hosts that charge per play are a third way to pay. They can cost less when people leave the pitch early, because the charge follows the start. The cheap video hosting guide lines those meters up beside these two. Compare Bunny and Cloudflare when you already know you want a developer CDN.
What one pitch costs, then a heavier month
The short example used on this site is a 20-minute file, 5,000 starts, and a quarter of the video watched. That is 25,000 minutes delivered. At the delivery rate above, those minutes plus one storage block are the Cloudflare total in the first row. About 625 GB at Bunny's standard delivery rate is the Bunny total in that row. The monthly minimum applies only in a quieter month than this one.
| Load | Bunny Stream | Cloudflare Stream |
|---|---|---|
| Short pitch | 625 GB, $6.25 | $30 |
| Heavier month | 6,700 GB, $67 | $275 |
The heavier month is 45 minutes, 30,000 starts, and a fifth of the video watched, about 270,000 minutes. The second row uses the same rates, and a 45-minute master still fits inside one storage block. On Bunny's volume network, delivery cost is cut in half for usage up to 500 TB a month. The Bunny Stream pricing breakdown and the Cloudflare Stream pricing breakdown cover those same rates.
Charging storage by duration helps a heavy file and costs more on a long master. A short video encoded at a high bitrate still uses only its length in minutes on Cloudflare. Bunny's storage charge follows the gigabytes on disk. Delivery works the other way around. Bunny charges for the bytes served. Cloudflare charges for minutes, including minutes a player preloads.
Protection, and what a sales page still has to add
Bunny's pricing page lists MediaCage Enterprise DRM at an optional $99 a month per video library. Encoding is still included. The product page is where you restyle the player or switch on HLS.
Cloudflare's pricing page stops at those two per-minute charges. Encoding and ingress are included. Those pages do not offer a studio DRM product.
When the video is what closes the sale, choose the CDN by what the month will cost, then add buttons and purchase tracking in a separate tool. The ranking of video hosts for sales pages is where that layer is judged. Other pairs are on the comparison index.
My take
I would send a long pitch aimed at Europe or North America to Bunny Stream when you are willing to manage a per-gigabyte bill. Turn a replication region on only when you plan to keep paying for it. The comment about an unfinished API is the other limit, and it came from someone who still liked the playback.
I would keep Cloudflare Stream if the rest of the site is already in that account and you want one minute-based invoice. Buffering ahead on an autoplay embed is billed as delivery, and that charge appears at the end of the month.
Our pick
Bunny Stream
Bunny Stream is the pick if you have a developer and want cheap, fast, protected video delivery, and you are willing to build the VSL conversion layer yourself. It is not a sales-video player out of the box.
