Head-to-head
Vimeo vs Bunny Stream
The Vimeo bandwidth limit leaves you with two hosts. One keeps the forms and the session report. The other charges by the gigabyte.
Quick answer
Pick Vimeo if you need a non-technical host with creation tools, in-player lead capture, and second-by-second retention inside Vimeo's own player; pick Bunny Stream if Vimeo's flat subscription and bandwidth limit no longer fit your traffic and someone on your team can embed the player and manage pay-as-you-go delivery.

Where Bunny Stream pulls ahead
What works
- Cheap and fast. It bills on usage with a $1 monthly minimum: encoding and the player are free, storage is $0.01 per GB in the default region, standard delivery in Europe and North America is $0.01 per GB, and the volume network is $0.005 per GB. Reviewers and long-term users single out value and playback speed above everything else.
- A capable player and real content protection. You can restyle the player with your own CSS, add chapters, captions, adjustable speed and a watch-time retention graph, and lock videos down with Media Cage multi-DRM, token authentication, watermarking and hotlinking protection.
- Built for developers. It is API-first, with resumable TUS uploads, webhooks and clear code examples, so it drops cleanly into an existing stack and you own the whole delivery layer.
What to watch
- It has no VSL conversion layer. Sound-first autoplay that restarts on unmute, timed in-video CTAs, lead capture, split testing and sales attribution are all yours to build on top of Bunny's API.
- Reliability and support are recurring risks. Most users call it reliable. A minority report outages where assets fail to load, slow and unhelpful support, and accounts suspended by automated anti-fraud with no notice. When an outage hits, the video fails to load.
- Non-technical buyers struggle with it. They hit poor documentation and a dashboard built for engineers, with no point-and-click, WordPress-native setup.
The bandwidth limit behind this choice
You are down to two hosts because Vimeo's plan, or its bandwidth cap, no longer matches your traffic. Vimeo's help center puts the paid limit at 2 TB a month, counted as 2,000 GB. On the free plan, the same article caps embeddable videos, and any video that is not public, at 1 TB a month. A landing page embeds the file, so those views count against that cap.
Vimeo keeps the player ad-free and charges a flat subscription. When an account uses more bandwidth than those plans were built for, the cost moves past what the subscription includes. Repeated overages can bring a note from sales, a custom or enterprise plan, or a push to leave. On Custom and Enterprise the per-gigabyte figure is a quote.
On G2, common complaints about Vimeo are restrictive pricing and upload limits. Reviewers are describing that monthly limit.
What the two bills actually are
Vimeo's analytics page lists the annual plans. Storage is what changes from plan to plan. The bandwidth limit above is the same on those paid plans, so Starter and Advanced share one delivery ceiling. Live streaming and webinars start on Advanced.
| Plan | Price | Storage |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 1 GB |
| Starter | $13 | 100 GB |
| Standard | $26 | 2 TB |
| Advanced | $76 | 7 TB, live and webinars |
Those three paid plans are billed annually. Bunny bills storage and delivery by the gigabyte. Storage in the default Frankfurt region rises if you copy the library into other regions. Standard encoding is included. Extra resolutions add storage.
Standard delivery in Asia and Oceania is $0.030 per GB, South America $0.045, and the Middle East and Africa $0.060. Once the account is on the volume network, that network charges one worldwide rate for the first 500 TB each month.
One video, both meters
This site's cost calculator uses one case for every host: a 20-minute sales video, 5,000 visitors, and a quarter of the video watched. That comes to about 624 GB delivered. At the standard Europe and North America rate, Bunny's delivery cost for this scenario is about $6.24. Storing the file is a separate line. Traffic at that volume already exceeds the monthly account minimum.
624 GB falls under that paid limit, so this usage stays on a standard Vimeo plan. A quieter month, under about 100 GB delivered, can come close to Bunny's minimum. The savings compared with Starter shrink in a light month, and a small library can still cost less on Starter.

Forms, the session report, and the heatmap
Vimeo's hosting page lets you place a contact form in the player and sync it with HubSpot and Mailchimp. The form feeds a list.
Paid plans include a second-by-second report of one viewing session when the view happens in Vimeo's player. Play the file in another player, including Dash.js or HLS.js, and Vimeo cannot count finishes or engagement for those views. A different player drops that session report.
Bunny's CDN player can draw a watch-time heatmap so a viewer can find the popular parts. That heatmap is for the person watching, not an account report that splits buyers from everyone else.
What people who left reported
A long-time Vimeo user who moved hosting to Bunny reported a monthly bill of about fifty cents. On a web hosting thread, another person said the switch saved a large amount and they had no reason to go back. A comment on the same Vimeo thread said the videos loaded faster and felt more secure. Each of those is one account. Treat them as single posts. Base your budget on your own bandwidth.
Common criticisms of Bunny CDN on G2 include weak documentation. Someone has to read the docs, maintain the embed, and manage delivery. If nobody on the team will do that work, setup stays with you. The Bunny Stream review and the pricing breakdown go further into that setup. The Vimeo review covers the library host on its own.
When the purchase has to reach the ad account
Neither host posts a cart receipt to Meta or TikTok. A watch report and a heatmap both stop at the view. TrackPlay vs Vimeo is the comparison for a player built to send the purchase back to the ad account. That player is for paid-traffic sales video, so a content library is a poor fit for it.
If you want a finished sales player, Vidalytics vs Vimeo and Panda Video vs Vimeo are the other comparisons. Vidalytics vs Bunny Stream and Panda Video vs Bunny Stream put those players next to Bunny's delivery bill.
Stay, or hand the embed over
Stay on Vimeo when the account is still inside the monthly limit and nobody wants to maintain a player. You keep the form, the library workflow, and the session report inside Vimeo's player.
Switch when the standard plan or a custom quote gets too expensive, and someone on the team can embed Bunny and monitor usage. The landing page gets a new snippet. The old Vimeo address stays on Vimeo.
Our pick
Bunny Stream
Bunny Stream is the pick if you have a developer and want cheap, fast, protected video delivery, and you are willing to build the VSL conversion layer yourself. It is not a sales-video player out of the box.

Mara edits the reviews and roundups on VSL Host Report. She checks autoplay, watch time, timed buttons, lead gates and page speed when the visitor is new and the traffic is paid. She also maps what each host really costs, whether it bills per play, per gigabyte or per seat, and rebuilds the monthly bill for a typical VSL funnel. For each piece she reads long-term user reports across forums and review sites, works through the vendor's own docs and pricing, and confirms the numbers before a verdict goes live.
