Spotlightr pricing

Each plan includes a monthly bandwidth allowance, and Spotlightr bills per gigabyte beyond it while the video keeps playing. Files kept on YouTube or S3 are not metered.

By Mara Vance. Prices verified with the vendor, October 2026.

What drives your bill

Spotlightr charges a plan fee that includes a monthly bandwidth allowance and storage. Past the allowance, each extra gigabyte delivered costs $0.05 and each extra gigabyte stored costs $0.03, and videos keep playing. Files played from YouTube or S3 through the player use no Spotlightr bandwidth.

For a VSL on cold paid traffic, weigh the pricing model against what you get back. Spotlightr is the pick if you sell a course or membership through funnels, want every video encrypted and gated in a branded player on plans that start at $13 a month, and do not need the host to tie a play to a sale.

What one sales video costs on Spotlightr Light

These rows use Light's annual price, its 200 GB allowance and the 3.33 Mbps stream this site assumes. The first is a 20-minute video seen by 5,000 visitors who watch a quarter of it. The second is a heavier month: a 45-minute video seen by 30,000 visitors who watch a fifth. The third keeps that heavy video's file on YouTube and plays it through Spotlightr.

Delivered Delivery Storage Total
Light, one modest VSL: 20 minutes, 5,000 visitors, a quarter watched
625 GB $21.25 Included $34.25
Light, heavy traffic: 45 minutes, 30,000 visitors, a fifth watched
6,700 GB $325 Included $338
Light, hybrid from YouTube: The same heavy month, file kept on YouTube
0 GB metered Included Included $13

At heavy volume the meter outweighs the plan, so a seller running that much paid traffic should either use hybrid hosting or move to a host with flat bandwidth. Voomly's Plus plan covers both months for $19, and the calculator prices the rest.

What works

  • Every upload is HLS encrypted on every plan, so the $13 Light account already encrypts lessons against downloads.
  • Email or phone gates at the start or at a timestamp, Stripe pay gates and scheduled playback that runs a replay like a live webinar all come from one dashboard.
  • Hybrid hosting plays files kept on YouTube or S3 through Spotlightr's branded player without touching Spotlightr bandwidth, which keeps long replays off the meter.
  • Viewers can be segmented by percent watched and sent to HubSpot, ActiveCampaign or other tools through Zapier, so a follow-up email can depend on how much of the video someone saw.
  • A free WordPress plugin and a LearnDash integration drop videos into a course site, and long-term users on Reddit single out the support team.
  • Going past the monthly bandwidth does not stop playback. Each extra gigabyte is billed at $0.05, so a traffic spike costs money and the sales page keeps working.

What to watch

  • Light caps you at 25 videos and 200 GB of bandwidth a month. One 20-minute VSL that 5,000 visitors watch for a quarter of its length uses about 625 GB, and the extra 425 GB adds about $21 to the plan.
  • No sale attribution. Spotlightr's pages mention no split testing judged on sales and no cart-verified conversions sent to ad platforms. Gates, CTAs and CRM tags still work, but Meta or Google never learns which play earned an order.
  • Reporting draws complaints. A G2 reviewer asked for better tracking metrics and reports, which matters if you cut a VSL by its retention curve.
  • Reviews of the dashboard are mixed. One Capterra reviewer called it a “confusing and terrible user experience”, while others on the same listing describe smooth playback.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free Spotlightr plan?
No. A 14-day trial that asks for no card comes first, and Light is the cheapest paid plan after it.
How much does annual billing save?
Light drops from $15 to $13 a month, Plus from $25 to $21, Premium from $65 to $55 and Scale from $195 to $163.
Does hybrid hosting use bandwidth?
Spotlightr counts bandwidth only on files uploaded to it, so a YouTube or S3 file played through its player is not metered.
Which plan adds the watermark?
Plus and every plan above it carry the dynamic IP watermark and the option to block forward seeking.
Do my videos stop if I go over?
They keep playing. The extra gigabytes appear on the bill at five cents each.

Mara edits the reviews and roundups on VSL Host Report. She looks at how a video player behaves on cold paid traffic: autoplay and unmute behaviour, per-second retention, timed CTAs, lead gates and load speed. She also maps what each host really costs, whether it bills per play, per gigabyte or per seat, and rebuilds the monthly bill for a typical VSL funnel. For each piece she reads long-term user reports across forums and review sites, works through the vendor's own docs and pricing, and confirms the numbers before a verdict goes live.
