## Gumlet review: worth the switch?

Gumlet is the pick if you want a hosted player with in-video CTAs, ad pixels and optional DRM at a bundled bandwidth price, and you do not need the host to tie a play to the sale.

Quick answer

Gumlet is a real, working host with a free plan, public prices and long-term users who recommend it. Its paid plans start at $6 a month billed annually and each includes 3,000 GB of streaming. The regret comes if you bought it to run a cold-traffic VSL. Its pages advertise no sound-first autoplay, no sales split tests and no cart-verified attribution, and a heavy VSL that uses more than the 3,000 GB is billed for every extra gigabyte.

You found Gumlet in a thread about Cloudflare Stream or about Vimeo's bandwidth bills. Before you move a sales video to it, you want to know two things: is it a real host, and is there a catch you will only find after the switch?

It is real. Gumlet describes itself as “an all-in-one video hosting platform” for hosting, customizing and securing video, and it publishes its plans, a free tier and a user forum. It sits between the developer CDNs that bill per gigabyte and the marketer hosts that bill per plan: a dashboard, a branded player and marketing tools, with thousands of gigabytes bundled into every paid plan. Our verdict comes from Gumlet's homepage, pricing, hosting, interactive-tools and comparison pages, plus user reports on Reddit and Gumlet's community forum. We did not run Gumlet on a live campaign, and [how we evaluate video hosts](/methodology) explains the method.

### What Gumlet ships for a sales page

The base is a hosted library with an ad-free player up to 4K and HDR10, password and geo blocking, unlimited AI subtitles and some live-streaming minutes, all on the free plan. Creator removes the Gumlet branding and adds domain restriction, API access and Google and Meta pixel tracking. Growth brings CRM integrations, a custom domain for video channels and AI chapters. Business adds dynamic watermarking, custom viewer analytics, AV1 encoding and VAST ad tags.

The marketing layer is what separates it from Bunny and Cloudflare. Gumlet's [interactive tools page](https://www.gumlet.com/interactive-video-tools/) lets you style call-to-action buttons inside the player, “set specific destination URLs, and schedule when they appear,” and put a lead form inside the video. On analytics it promises drop-off points, heatmaps, per-viewer breakdowns and completion rates, which is more than a delivery CDN reports.

### The gap for a cold-traffic VSL

None of the Gumlet pages we read advertise sound-first autoplay, an unmute that restarts the video from the top, split tests decided on sales, or a cart-verified conversion sent back to Meta or Google. The pixel fires on the page and the heatmap shows where viewers leave. Which plays turned into orders is the one thing Gumlet will not show you.

That matters most to media buyers who judge each ad by the sales it brings in. They usually keep the VSL on a conversion player such as [Vidalytics](/reviews/vidalytics). If the video's job is a course library, a product demo or a webinar replay, Gumlet's toolset covers it, and the DRM option makes it a credible lesson host as well.

Gumlet sells a bucket of gigabytes with each plan and bills what spills over. Bunny Stream counts every gigabyte on a meter from the first one.

##### What works

* Every paid plan bundles 3,000 GB of streaming a month, so Creator covers one 20-minute sales video seen by 5,000 visitors who watch a quarter of it, with most of the allowance left over.
* In-player CTA buttons with your own link and timing, in-video lead forms, and Google and Meta pixel tracking from Creator up, all set in the dashboard with no API work.
* Widevine and FairPlay DRM can be added to any plan, with 100,000 views included, and password, geo and domain locks come with the plans themselves.
* A Reddit user leaving Vimeo over bandwidth charges said Gumlet's migration tool kept their embed codes working, so they did not have to edit every page that plays a video.
* The free plan gives 100 GB of streaming and 60 storage minutes, enough to embed a test video on your own sales page before paying anything.

##### What to watch

* Gumlet's pages advertise no VSL conversion layer: no sound-first autoplay or unmute restart, no split tests decided on sales, no cart-verified postbacks. Pixels and CTAs still work on the page, but the ad platform is never told which play earned an order.
* The allowance is 3,000 GB on Creator, Growth and Business alike. A long VSL on heavy traffic goes past it, and the overage then costs several times what Bunny Stream charges for the same delivery, even at Business's lower rate of $0.06 a GB.
* Two separate reports describe every embed failing at once, one after a backend change on migrated videos and one where embeds showed a dashboard-only message. On a sales page, that leaves paid visitors looking at a blank player.
* DRM is a separate monthly line on top of the plan, and dynamic watermarking comes only with Business.

### Gumlet vs Bunny Stream: tools or price

Gumlet's own [Bunny comparison](https://www.gumlet.com/bunnystream-alternative/) says “Bunny Stream does not help with in-video CTAs, and no buttons within the player.” That lines up with our [Bunny Stream review](/reviews/bunny-stream). Bunny is delivery infrastructure with encoding and a player included, billed per gigabyte with a $1 monthly minimum, and the selling layer is yours to build.

For one sales video the two bills land close. A 20-minute VSL seen by 5,000 visitors who each watch a quarter of it delivers about 625 GB at the 3.33 Mbps stream this site assumes. On Gumlet that sits inside Creator's 3,000 GB, so the bill is the plan fee. On Bunny it comes to about $6.25 at the standard Europe and North America rate, and the [Bunny Stream pricing](/reviews/bunny-stream/pricing) page lists the other regions.

The gap opens with volume. Stretch the video to 45 minutes with 30,000 visitors watching a fifth of it and delivery climbs to about 6,700 GB. Bunny bills roughly $67 for that. Gumlet bills the 3,700 GB above the allowance at the plan's overage rate, which works out to about $389 a month on Growth and about $321 on Business, plan fee included, at annual list rates.

Pick Gumlet if you want CTAs, lead forms, pixels and one-click DRM without a developer. Pick Bunny if a developer is on hand, your traffic is heavy and you will wire the conversion tracking yourself. To run your own length, traffic and watch rate across the hosts we cover, use the [VSL hosting cost calculator](/best/vsl-hosting-cost-calculator-what-one-sales-video-costs-on-each-host).

### How Gumlet compares with the other hosts we cover

Gumlet's [Cloudflare comparison](https://www.gumlet.com/cloudflarestream-alternative/) argues that “with no DRM and dynamic watermarking, Cloudflare Stream leaves your content vulnerable.” Cloudflare bills by minutes stored and delivered instead of gigabytes, as the [Cloudflare Stream review](/reviews/cloudflare-stream) explains, and like [Mux](/reviews/mux-video) it expects a developer to build the player experience around it.

For a lesson library where leaks are the main risk, [VdoCipher](/reviews/vdocipher) puts DRM on every plan, where Gumlet charges for it separately. Against the marketer hosts, Gumlet starts far below [Wistia](/reviews/wistia), whose paid plans start at $79 a month. It also draws teams leaving [Vimeo](/reviews/vimeo) over bandwidth, and one of the user reports below comes from such a move. If you have already decided against it, [our Gumlet alternatives](/alternatives/gumlet) rank the other options on sales-video criteria, and the [best video hosting for VSLs](/best) ranks the field from scratch.

#### What users actually say about Gumlet

Research: unverified

##### Moving off Vimeo without rewriting pages ↑ frequently praised

Users leaving Vimeo over bandwidth charges credit Gumlet's migration tool with keeping existing embed codes working.

> “Moved to Gumlet last month. The migration tool actually kept our embed codes working, which saved us.”

Anonymous [Reddit: Is anyone else getting killed by Vimeo's new... ](https://www.reddit.com/r/videohosting/comments/1ryrzaj/is%5Fanyone%5Felse%5Fgetting%5Fkilled%5Fby%5Fvimeos%5Fnew/)

##### Embeds that stop playing after a change ↓ common complaint

Two separate reports describe embedded videos breaking at once: an AppSumo buyer whose migrated videos all broke after a backend change, and a community thread where every embed showed a dashboard-only message.

> “Every single one was broken.”

Anonymous [Reddit: Experience with Gumlet ](https://www.reddit.com/r/appsumo/comments/1p3gm0d/experience%5Fwith%5Fgumlet/)

##### Long term buyers who stayed ↑ frequently praised

Other AppSumo buyers in the same thread recommend Gumlet and say it improved over time.

### What third-party users say

The clearest praise comes from teams leaving Vimeo. In a r/videohosting thread about Vimeo's bandwidth charges, one user wrote: “Moved to Gumlet last month. The migration tool actually kept our embed codes working, which saved us.” In an AppSumo thread, a lifetime-deal buyer summed up their time with it as “Mostly very good. Definitely recommend. Only got better over time.”

The same AppSumo thread holds the sharpest complaint. A buyer described a backend change after which their migrated videos stopped playing: “Every single one was broken.” Gumlet's own community forum has a thread where embeds began returning “Sorry, this video is only accessible from the dashboard.” Two reports are not a record of outages. Both describe every embed failing together, though, so I would put an uptime monitor on the page that plays the sales video.

### Gumlet video pricing: plans, bandwidth and overage

Gumlet meters two things: storage, counted in minutes of video, and streaming, counted in gigabytes delivered. Every paid plan includes the same 3,000 GB a month, so a higher tier buys seats, storage minutes, features and a cheaper overage rate. The plan grid shows annual billing, and monthly billing costs more.

| Plan | Annual | Monthly | Storage | Streaming | Extra GB |
| -------- | ------ | ------- | ---------- | --------- | -------- |
| Free | $0 | $0 | 60 min | 100 GB | $0.50 |
| Creator | $6/mo | $9/mo | 1,000 min | 3,000 GB | $0.15 |
| Growth | $19/mo | $29/mo | 3,000 min | 3,000 GB | $0.10 |
| Business | $99/mo | $149/mo | 15,000 min | 3,000 GB | $0.06 |

DRM sits on its own line. Widevine and FairPlay cost $99 a month with 100,000 views included and $1 for every 1,000 views beyond that, so a course seller on Growth who switches it on pays for both. Live-streaming minutes come with each plan: 60 on Free, 1,000 on Creator, 2,000 on Growth and 4,000 on Business.

For a single sales video I would start on Creator, since it already carries the full bandwidth allowance, the pixels and domain restriction. Growth earns its price when you need CRM integrations or five seats. Business makes sense once overage is a regular line on the invoice or you need the watermark. Cloudflare's minute-based model is laid out on [Cloudflare Stream pricing](/reviews/cloudflare-stream/pricing), and the full Gumlet breakdown with worked examples is on the [Gumlet pricing page](/reviews/gumlet/pricing).

### Frequently asked questions

Is Gumlet legit?

Yes. It is an operating host with public plans, a free tier and its own user forum, and long-term buyers on Reddit recommend it. The complaints we found concern embeds that broke after changes on Gumlet's side.

Is Gumlet good for a VSL on paid traffic?

It will host and play one, with timed buttons and ad pixels. Smart autoplay, sales-scored split tests and order attribution are missing, so most media buyers keep the VSL on a conversion player.

What happens after 3,000 GB on Growth?

You keep streaming and each extra gigabyte is billed at ten cents. Business lowers that rate, Creator raises it.

Does Gumlet include DRM?

Password, geo and domain locks are on the plans. Studio DRM with Widevine and FairPlay is an extra monthly add-on.

Gumlet or Bunny for heavy bandwidth?

Bunny, if someone can build the player features. Its per-gigabyte rate stays low at any volume, while Gumlet's overage adds up fast past the bundle.

Can Gumlet replace Vimeo embeds without editing every page?

That is what its migration tool is for, and one Reddit user said their old embed codes kept working. Spot-check a few pages after the move.

Does Gumlet connect video watches to cart sales?

No. Its reports stop at viewer behaviour such as drop-off and completion. Matching a play to an order needs a conversion player or your own tracking.

Mara edits the reviews and roundups on VSL Host Report. She looks at how a video player behaves on cold paid traffic: autoplay and unmute behaviour, per-second retention, timed CTAs, lead gates and load speed. She also maps what each host really costs, whether it bills per play, per gigabyte or per seat, and rebuilds the monthly bill for a typical VSL funnel. For each piece she reads long-term user reports across forums and review sites, works through the vendor's own docs and pricing, and confirms the numbers before a verdict goes live.
