## Wistia vs Bunny Stream

Down to Wistia or Bunny Stream? One is a marketing platform you can embed. The other delivers the video, and your team builds the player.

Quick answer

Pick Wistia if you need calls to action, heatmaps, A/B tests and optional lead scoring without building a player stack; pick Bunny Stream if you have a developer and want the lowest delivery bill on usage pricing, with DRM and token authentication included.

[See Wistia (opens in a new tab) ](https://wistia.com/?utm%5Fsource=vslhostreport.com&utm%5Fmedium=affiliate&utm%5Fcampaign=compare)

Wistia is a video marketing platform. Its product page puts hosting, recording, webinars and analytics in one place, and it says the product is trusted by over 440,000 customers. The pricing page adds a Signals tier for teams that score leads in a marketing automation tool.

Bunny Stream is the delivery product under that. It transcodes, stores, protects and plays the file, with a customizable player. The Stream page describes an API-first setup, resumable TUS uploads and webhooks, and it says you can finish setup in 2 minutes.

Wistia can go on a landing page this week, because the form and the call to action are settings in the account. Choose Bunny when someone on the team will build the player and the bill should follow the gigabytes.

A cold-traffic sales video that has to convert without that build belongs with a conversion player. [Vidalytics vs Wistia](/compare/vidalytics-vs-wistia) sets one against Wistia's library. [Panda Video vs Bunny Stream](/compare/panda-video-vs-bunny-stream) and [Vidalytics vs Bunny Stream](/compare/vidalytics-vs-bunny-stream) put that kind of player next to Bunny's delivery bill. If the other general host on your list is Vimeo, [Wistia vs Vimeo](/compare/wistia-vs-vimeo) is that pair.

### Where Wistia pulls ahead

##### What works

* A polished, fast, ad-free player with heatmaps, A/B testing and, on the Signals tier, real marketing automation: lead scoring and HubSpot or Marketo sync.
* More than 440,000 customers and a long track record make it the safe choice for a B2B content library.

##### What to watch

* It is built for content marketing. Its player lacks sound-first unmute-restart autoplay, and its attribution stops short of the cart-level sale.
* The marketing-automation tier jumps to $329 a month, and extra seats are $25 each.

### What you can turn on without writing a player

On Business and above, Wistia offers in-video forms, AI chaptering, full-screen calls to action and annotation links. A/B testing lives on that same tier. The player page describes Aurora as a lighter player, cut from 139kb to 43kb, with customization and an API.

Wistia's product page also includes webinars, next to hosting and recording. A content team often stays for those, along with the hosting. Bunny encodes, stores and plays the file.

Bunny's player can be restyled. Chapters, captions and a watch-time retention graph are part of it. Timed sales buttons and split tests are not in the product. A team migrating from Wistia said the player lacks functionality they need.

That thread is specific about the way around the gap. Bunny Stream outputs HLS, so the page can use hls.js or Shaka Player. Media Cage DRM is the exception, because it requires Bunny's embedded player. Turn Media Cage on and the embed has to be Bunny's player. If you skip Media Cage, hls.js or Shaka Player can carry the buttons Wistia had included.

### What each host bills

Wistia sells platform plans. Each plan includes a storage cap and a bandwidth cap. Extra people on the account are billed per seat.

Free

$0

Free includes 25 GB of storage, 200 GB of bandwidth, one user, and the logo on the player.

Business

$79/mo annual

Business includes 250 GB or more of storage, 1 TB of bandwidth, three or more users, and it removes the logo.

Signals

$329/mo annual

Signals adds HubSpot, Marketo, Pardot, lead scoring, and pipeline attribution.

Extra user

$25/mo

Each extra person is a seat added on Business.

Bunny bills storage and delivery. The regional rates below come from the Stream pricing docs. Standard encoding is included, and so is the player. A new account can start a 14-day trial with no card. With little traffic, you still pay the monthly minimum shown beside Bunny in the comparison above.

| Bunny line | Rate |
| ------------------------ | --------- |
| Europe and North America | $0.010/GB |
| Asia | $0.03/GB |
| South America | $0.045/GB |
| Middle East and Africa | $0.06/GB |
| Volume, first 500 TB | $0.005/GB |
| Storage, Frankfurt | $0.01/GB |

Signals is a different decision from Business. It connects HubSpot, Marketo, Pardot and similar tools, keeps lead capture data on the contact, scores the lead, and adds pipeline and revenue attribution. Bunny does not sell that layer. Stats, webhooks and the API are what you attach yourself.

Wistia charges for each person beyond the seats included on Business. Bunny does not charge per person. The Bunny bill follows how much you store and where viewers are.

### What 625 GB costs on each

Take 625 GB delivered in Europe and North America. At the standard rate for those regions, Bunny's delivery cost is about $6.25 before storage. Storage is billed at the Frankfurt rate, based on file size.

That volume sits inside the Business bandwidth allowance, so Wistia stays on the annual plan for this load. The flat fee pays for the forms and the tests. Bunny's charge pays for delivery, and your team still builds the player.

With fewer viewers, that monthly minimum still applies. A small test can use Wistia's free plan. It is a test, not a campaign. If viewers are in Asia, South America, or the Middle East and Africa, use those rates instead of the Europe and North America example. The volume tier is one worldwide rate for a month with very heavy traffic.

### What people reported after they left

One person who switched said Wistia had become far more expensive than Bunny. A course creator compared the two by features. Wistia is strong on marketing tools, calls to action and forms on the video, and Bunny Stream is a solid CDN that is thinner on course-specific analytics.

The rates above are what that cost comment is describing. The missing buttons and tests are what that course creator was pointing at. The lower delivery bill comes with the player work.

A marketer who does not want to read API docs should stay on Wistia, even when Bunny's per-gigabyte price is lower. The lower delivery bill does not include the form. Someone who already maintains a player does not need the Business plan for buttons they will rebuild. Add Signals when a contact has to be scored in HubSpot, Marketo or Pardot. Skip Signals when watch data never goes into those tools.

### If the ad account has to learn from the purchase

Lead scoring on Signals stays inside the marketing automation tool. Bunny's figures stay in its stats and in whatever you attach to the API. Sound-first autoplay that restarts on unmute, and a server-side post of the sale, sit outside both products.

[TrackPlay vs Wistia](/compare/trackplay-vs-wistia) is the comparison for a player that posts the cart-verified sale back to the ad account. TrackPlay is built for a paid-traffic sales video. A B2B content library is a poor fit for it, because it has none of Wistia's webinar tooling.

### Wistia

Wistia is the pick if your video's job is B2B content marketing and lead capture.

### Frequently asked questions

Which of these two is closer for a sales video?

Wistia, when nobody will write a player. The buttons and the tests are settings on the paid plan. Bunny, when that player will be custom and the bill should follow gigabytes. A host built for cold-traffic sales pages is the Vidalytics and Panda links in the opening.

How do the bills compare?

Use the two pricing tables above. Wistia is an annual platform fee with a bandwidth cap. Bunny is storage plus a regional delivery rate, and a quiet month still pays the minimum beside Bunny in the comparison.

Can Bunny replace the Wistia tools if I move the file?

The file can move. The forms, the tests and the automation stay behind unless you rebuild them. The switch thread describes HLS as the route to a different player, except when Media Cage forces Bunny's embed.

Will either send a purchase to Meta or TikTok?

A purchase does not leave either host for the ad account. Wistia's automation plan scores a lead. Bunny keeps delivery stats. The comparison that posts the sale is linked in the section above.
