## Free Wistia alternatives

The logo is stuck on the player, or the embed just stopped. TrackPlay is the free-tier pick when the video has to sell. YouTube is the pick when the bill has to stay at zero.

Your embed died, or the Wistia logo is sitting on a video you are paying to send people to. Both come from the free plan. The host you open next depends on which problem you have.

[The Free plan](https://wistia.com/pricing) costs $0\. It lists a maximum of 25 GB of storage, one user, and 3,000 or more monthly credits. The same page includes 200 GB of bandwidth a month, with basic analytics, and the logo stays on the player. Heatmaps, engagement graphs and A/B testing are not included. [The credits article](https://support.wistia.com/en/articles/17340859-understanding-wistia-credits) describes the free allotment as 3,000, one-time, and says it does not expire. Hosting and playback do not use credits. The card and the article do not use the same words for that allotment.

The bandwidth cap is what takes the embed offline. [Wistia's usage article](https://support.wistia.com/en/articles/8264552-account-usage-and-bandwidth) says free plans cannot go into overages or buy more bandwidth. After a short grace period past the monthly cap, embedded videos stop playing until the next billing month.

### A free alternative to Wistia

Removing the logo requires the Business plan or higher. If the logo is the only problem and the library still fits, you can stay and pay later. If the embed died because you passed the bandwidth cap, a host that meters usage differently can keep a free account running longer.

People who search for a Wistia alternative are often leaving the paid library product. For that ranking, read [Wistia alternatives for paid plans](/alternatives/wistia). Stay on this page if the account you have today is the free one.

[Open TrackPlay](#alt-trackplay) if the video has to sell on traffic you are paying for. The table below summarizes all six hosts.

Quick answer

I'd start with TrackPlay if the video has to sell on paid traffic and you want the conversion tools on a free play allowance. I'd pick YouTube if the cost has to stay at zero and you can accept YouTube's player. I'd pick Vidalytics if you want a free taste of smart autoplay before you pay.

Ranked

### Wistia Free alternatives, ranked

[ ](/reviews/trackplay)

#### 1\. TrackPlay: best Wistia Free alternative for paid traffic

TrackPlay is the pick if you run paid traffic to a VSL and need every play tied to the actual sale.

TrackPlay is a VSL player and analytics platform for paid-traffic funnels. The video sits behind one embed. The cart posts the verified sale back onto the play that earned it, and that conversion can be sent server-side to Meta, TikTok and GA4\. [The pricing page](https://trackplay.io/pricing) includes every conversion feature on the free allowance, with no card. The allowance pauses when the plays run out, and TrackPlay does not sell extra plays.

A muted autoplay that nobody unmutes is not counted as a play. That limit works differently from Wistia's gigabyte cap, so a quiet page and a busy sales video run out at different times.

It is narrow by design. Built for paid-traffic VSL conversion, it is not a general video host or a B2B content library, so it has none of the channels, SEO pages or webinar tooling of a Wistia. If the video's job is content marketing, this is a poor fit. On a page whose job is the sale, you still get the player, the watch data and the postback.

It is also very new. Testimonials sit on the vendor's site, third-party reviews are thin, and signup is invite-only: the registration page asks for an invitation code. That is what you would expect before a public track record exists. The [TrackPlay review](/reviews/trackplay) and [TrackPlay vs Wistia](/compare/trackplay-vs-wistia) go further once you are comparing paid plans.

[ ](/reviews/vidalytics)

#### 2\. Vidalytics: best Wistia Free alternative for autoplay

Vidalytics is the pick if you want a proven direct-response player with deep conversion analytics and can live with play-based pricing.

Vidalytics is the direct-response player people weigh against TrackPlay. The free tier is where you try smart autoplay: when the browser blocks sound, playback starts muted and restarts with sound on the first click. The plays and the stored-video count in the free-allowance cell come from [the pricing table](https://www.vidalytics.com/pricing).

[The help article](https://help.vidalytics.com/vidalytics-free-plan-everything-you-need-to-know) still describes a different allowance, and it turns off video stats, PlayGates, conversion tracking and third-party integrations. A free account can show you the player. The record of whether the pitch sold sits on a paid plan. The questions at the end spell out where those two documents differ.

Paid play bands are in the [Vidalytics review](/reviews/vidalytics). [Vidalytics vs Wistia](/compare/vidalytics-vs-wistia) is the matchup once you are ready to pay one of them. TrackPlay, above, is the host that posts the purchase back on the unpaid tier.

[ ](/reviews/youtube-alternative)

#### 3\. YouTube: best Wistia Free alternative for zero cost

YouTube is the pick if you want free reach and discovery for public video. For a sales video you need to control on your own page, a dedicated host does the job better.

YouTube is the only host in this set with no storage meter and no bandwidth meter. Uploads and playback are free, so the bill stays at zero no matter how many people watch.

The embed is YouTube's player. Branding stays, links go back to YouTube, and related videos are part of that player. Nothing in the embed knows who bought. There is no buyer split and no cart postback. [The YouTube review](/reviews/youtube-alternative) covers that trade in more detail.

[Read the YouTube review](/reviews/youtube-alternative)

[ ](/reviews/voomly)

#### 4\. Voomly: best Wistia Free alternative for a funnel

Voomly is the pick if you want interactive funnels in the player and the creation apps on the Cloud plan, with the bandwidth cap removed on Plus.

[Voomly Light](https://www.voomly.com/vc-pricing) is a free funnel starter. The allowance cell lists the video count, the storage limit, the bandwidth cap and one funnel. That bandwidth cap is much tighter than Wistia's monthly allowance, so a pitch that strangers watch all the way through will exhaust Light while a quiet Wistia library is still fine.

Use Light to see whether the funnel tools fit. Switch hosts when real traffic arrives. Voomly does not post the purchase from the cart. What you pay once you leave Light is in the [Voomly review](/reviews/voomly).

[Visit Voomly (opens in a new tab) ](https://voomly.com/?utm%5Fsource=vslhostreport.com&utm%5Fmedium=affiliate&utm%5Fcampaign=alternatives) [Read the Voomly review](/reviews/voomly)

[ ](/reviews/gumlet)

#### 5\. Gumlet: best Wistia Free alternative for streaming

Gumlet is the pick if you want a hosted player with in-video CTAs, ad pixels and optional DRM at a bundled bandwidth price, and you do not need the host to tie a play to the sale.

[Gumlet's free video plan](https://www.gumlet.com/pricing/) meters storage in minutes and streaming in gigabytes a month. The minute and gigabyte figures sit in the free-allowance cell. The billing column next to it lists the paid bundle, which meters usage differently.

What you get is delivery. It is not a VSL player, and a purchase is not posted back from the cart. Pick it when the job is to stream a file and you will build the selling layer somewhere else. The [Gumlet review](/reviews/gumlet) has the paid bundle.

[ ](/reviews/vimeo)

#### 6\. Vimeo: best Wistia Free alternative for embeds

Vimeo is the pick if you need dependable general-purpose hosting and creation, but not paid-traffic conversion features.

Vimeo is the general host people already know. This page does not print a storage or bandwidth figure for the free embed. Treat it as a familiar player for a file that only has to appear on a page.

Heatmaps and A/B tests, which a paid Wistia plan adds, are not part of that free embed. The [Vimeo review](/reviews/vimeo) covers the paid product. The page on [free Vimeo alternatives](/alternatives/vimeo-free) covers the cap on Vimeo's free embed.

### Wistia alternatives if you still want a free plan

Most Wistia alternative roundups assume you already pay for a library plan. This page starts from the free account. What matters is the job you need the video to do today.

**The library only has to play.** Stay with Wistia if your library fits the storage and bandwidth in the opening and you can accept the logo. Open YouTube if the bill has to remain zero with no meter at all, and you can live with YouTube's player. Open Gumlet if you want a streaming allowance and you will add the selling layer yourself. Vimeo is the familiar embed if you can choose without a storage figure from this page.

**The embed already stopped.** That is the bandwidth wall in the opening. A play meter runs out in a different month than a gigabyte meter. TrackPlay pauses once you reach its play cap and does not sell extra plays. Vidalytics' help article describes a free account that stops when its bandwidth is used, with no extra bandwidth to buy. YouTube has no meter. Voomly Light has the smallest bandwidth allowance in the table.

**You wanted a heatmap or a test.** This Wistia plan includes neither. Vidalytics also withholds conversion tracking on its free tier. TrackPlay includes its conversion features on the unpaid allowance. TrackPlay's section states the narrow scope, which is the limit that matters if the files are a content library.

**The video has to produce a sale.** I'd start with TrackPlay. I'd use Vidalytics if I wanted to sample smart autoplay and could pay before the analytics mattered. I'd keep YouTube only if a bill of zero mattered more than control of the player.

### Which meter you will actually hit

A help-center clip and a sales video with ad spend do not exhaust the same allowance. Wistia tracks storage in gigabytes alongside a monthly bandwidth cap, and a free account cannot purchase more. TrackPlay counts plays, and a muted autoplay that nobody unmutes does not count. The Vidalytics pricing table counts plays and stored videos. Its help article still lists bandwidth and upload limits, and the questions below give those figures so they are not mixed with the pricing table. YouTube counts neither. Gumlet counts streaming. Light pairs a small bandwidth cap with a large storage pool. This page leaves Vimeo's free storage and bandwidth unstated.

I'd open TrackPlay if I were already buying clicks and the sale had to be reported against the play. For that pick, see the [TrackPlay section](#alt-trackplay) above. The cost of a month past these free allowances is in the [VSL hosting cost calculator](/best/vsl-hosting-cost-calculator-what-one-sales-video-costs-on-each-host), and the [cheap video hosting comparison](/best/cheap-video-hosting) is the page for the paid meters.

### How we picked these alternatives

The order follows why people leave the free plan. A sales video on paid traffic is first. A player you can sample before paying is second. A host with no meter is third. A starter funnel, a plain streaming allowance, and a familiar general embed follow. Fame is not a factor. The order is not a score.

We read each vendor's pricing page or help article, including Wistia's bandwidth article and its credits article. We did not run the tools. The full method is on the [how we research hosts](/methodology) page.

Vidalytics is the only host here whose pricing page and help article disagree. The comparison uses the pricing table. The help article's bandwidth and upload figures are in the questions below, and they should stay separate until Vidalytics publishes one allowance.

#### How I'd decide

I'd judge any Wistia Free alternative on two numbers before I read its feature list: what one sales video costs a month for the traffic you run, and what the player gives back for that money. The [VSL hosting cost calculator](/best/vsl-hosting-cost-calculator-what-one-sales-video-costs-on-each-host) works out the first from your video length, visitors and watch rate, using each vendor's published rates. For the second, I would weigh [one thread](https://support.wistia.com/en/articles/8264552-account-usage-and-bandwidth) and [a second thread](https://support.wistia.com/en/articles/8264552-account-usage-and-bandwidth) above any vendor's own claims.

### Frequently asked questions

Is Wistia still free?

Yes. The $0 plan is still on the pricing page. Storage, bandwidth, the logo and the analytics limits are in the opening section.

What happens when Wistia Free runs out of bandwidth?

The player goes dark for visitors after the grace window, and it stays dark until the next billing month. There is no overage pack on this plan.

What is the best free Wistia alternative for a VSL?

TrackPlay, when the video has to sell on traffic you pay for. Channels, SEO pages and webinars are a Wistia job. A content library should stay on a general host.

Is Vidalytics free?

There is a free line on the pricing page, and that is the plays-and-storage cell in the table. The help center still publishes 50 GB of bandwidth a month and up to 3 uploads, and it removes stats, PlayGates, conversion tracking and integrations. Do not add those help-center figures to the pricing table.

Can I remove Wistia branding for free?

No. The logo comes off on Business and above.
